Look Sharp, Feel Sharp: A Man's Complete Guide To Skincare And Haircare

There are lot of men who want a good skin and healthy hairs, but very few actually know where to start and how to take care of it. With so many products on the market, it’s easy to feel confused about what to buy and how to use these products like skincare and haircare. Here we will be breaking down some skincare products every man should have.

1. Face Wash (Cleanser)

With a known face wash it is easy to remove the dirt, sweat, and extra oil that build up on the skin throughout the day. You must be choosing a gentle, sulfate free face wash if you have a sensitive skin, and a gel based one if your skin is oily. You should wash your face first with lukewarm water, then take a small amount of face wash and then gently massage it in circular motions for about thirty seconds.

2. Face Scrub

You must use the scrub only two to three times a week not daily, as it can make your skin irritated. The scrub helps you by removing the dead skin cells on your face which occurs because of sweat or while riding a bike. You should apply it on damp skin and massage it gently in circular motions, focusing on areas like the nose, forehead etc.

3. Moisturiser

Moisturising is one of the most important step but there are many men who skips this part. Even oily skin needs hydration, otherwise it will be producing even more oil to compensate. You should pick a lightweight, oil free moisturiser if your skin is oily, and a slightly thicker cream if your skin is dry. Use small dots across your face and neck, then massage upward and outward gently until it fully absorbs.

4. Sunscreen

Sunscreen is not only used while being in a beach. You come across with daily sun exposure while walking, riding, or driving. Through these exposures you can be tanned, have dark spots, and can have symptoms of early aging. Take a generous amount of about two finger lengths, and spread it evenly on your face, neck, and ears. Reapply every three to four hours if you’re out in strong sun for long periods.

5. Shampoo

Choosing the right shampoo is basically depending upon your hair and scalp type. If you have an oily scalp, you must go for a clarifying shampoo. If your scalp is dry or flaky, then the moisturising shampoo is better. You must wet your hairs completely before applying shampoo, as applying it to dry hair it will be harder for you to spread evenly. Take a small amount of the shampoo and massage it into your scalp using your fingertips (not nails) for about a minute, and let it run down the length of your hair as you rinse.

6. Bumble and bumble

Every pro hair stylist has Bumble and bumble in their kit. They opened their first salon in New York in the late 1970s, and quickly became known for their signature cutting style using a straight edge razor.

You don’t need a dozens of different products to look good. Using a cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen in the morning with a good shampoo and applying conditioner few times a week, meets most of your skin and which your hair needs. Stick to the same routine for at least three to four weeks to see results, as it takes time for new habits to show an effect on your skin and hair.
